ANNE OF GREEN GABLES celebrates its 100th birthday this month. It was originally published in June of 1908 by Canadian author, Lucy Maud Montgomery. Her stories of orphaned Anne Shirley became a girls’ favorite spanning a century. Chicago Tribune cultural critic, Julia Keller, highlights Anne’s importance in children’s literature.
